How thick is the grease, and how did it get there?
Some diesel fuel would probably work to clean it out...

sounds like the used car lot I worked at in the 60's . they would use grease in transmissions and sometimes saw dust , to quiet a noisy transmission or rear end . hey back then cars really weren't build to last 100K miles

Is the Jeep drive able? If so I'd consider putting in diesel or kerosene and driving it about a mile or so. The heat and movement of the gears should mix the two and make the grease more "liquid" and allow at least some of it to drain out. Drain, add more diesel or kerosene, and repeat. Then add some cheap gear oil and repeat. Then plan on rebuilding.

sounds like your going to have to take the top off the tranny to get it out of there, transfer case, i dont know. bet youd like to have the idiot that did that standing next to you when you do that. what a idiot. there might be something out there that will desolve grease but ive never used it,or know of it.

Nick's method will work to get it out of the moving parts. There probably isn't any in the cluster of mainshaft needles as it probably couldn't get there. If it was driven any distance with the grease, I would guess those, along with the cluster gear, input, and mainshaft are probably toast.
