I am in need of some pictures of steering linkage, Column to Box (saginaw up front) on a Dauntless equipped CJ. Not alot of room to get a straight shot to the column from the gear box. Ill probably have to run a middle u joint thing a mabob. Any pictures of how you guys may have done it would be helpfull. thanks.

I can probably get some of the Daughter's '70 tomorrow. Did you check in the Saginaw swap sticky thread? I believe it's in the fabricators forum. Lots of good reading there.

I have been looking at so much saginaw stuff my eyes started to bleed, lol. I will go back through it. Im thinking maybe just run a straight shaft from the joint by the box (saginaw) through a Heim joint to stabilize it, then another joint to shaft to joint and column.

Steering gear mounting & placement is the first step in order to get the proper angle from it to the column.

This is a Buick V6 setup with power steering and fender well exit headers .....although block huggers or stock cast Iron manifolds would also clear.

The Double D collapsible shaft in the picture is just being mocked up and has not been cut to length yet.............there is a joint at both ends although one joint could have been used in this application at the column only. The shafts and joints are available from Flaming River or Borgenson.

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

Just remember you need some flex or give somewhere,
whether it's in the shaft or a bell coupler or a flex joint.
    Don't just go solid.
    Bad, very bad.
