Never have, if it don't leak it won't need it. If it leaks then it needs new gasket.

My gasket is a copper washer. It's the one that was on my old adapter. It drips a little, but I haven't put a torque wrench on it to achieve 28 ft lbs which I believe is what my TSM says. Torquing aluminum makes me a little nervous about stripping threads

probably, but teflon tape in oil systems can cause issues- if any of it get's into a passage it can actually block flow- Not a good thing :(

I saw a generator set one time that kept shutting down 30 seconds after starting- turned out (after much head scratching/hair pulling) that there was a bit of tape plugging the orifice on the pressure sender.

I wasn't able to get a torque wrench on it because of limited clearance with the oil pan. I tightened the bolt a little more with my 7/8" wrench. We'll see.

From my picture you can see I used Teflon tape on my oil pressure gauge connection...

I think the Teflon tape is fine on the tapered pipe threads - just don't go wild with it, and keep it back on the threads. I would not use it on the plug. That is supposed to seal at the copper washer, not at the threads. If it leaks, get a new washer.
