I'm upgrading the brakes on my M38a1. I've swapped in a Dana 30 and 44 from a 1974 CJ-5. The 30 is getting discs swapped in as well. I bought a master cylinder for a later model CJ-5 with discs. 1st question, which port goes to the front brakes? There is a 9/16 and a 1/2in port. 2nd question, will this master work with Chevy calipers in the front? Thank you

I assume a dual chamber master with the larger chamber in the rear with the smallest line? That should go to your front disc's .............and the larger line size smaller chamber goes to the rear , which by the way Jeep used a 1/4" sized line to the rear drums while the front line was a 3/16".......... There should also be a Proportioning valve in the system. As far as your Chevy calipers????????not knowing what they are they should work OK..................Keep in mind good brakes systems are designed and put together on purpose using calculations based on Master cylinder volume and stroke............also taking into account the total volume of the brake caliper pistons , drum wheel cylinders and total line volume. Notwithstanding the proper pedal ratio at the pedal to the push rod. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info... the calipers I'm using are a mid seventies 1/2 ton 4wd part... I think the rear port on the master is 1/2, while the front is 9/16. Which goes along with what you said... thanks again
