How to get F head distributor to move

    Hey guys, thanks in advance for any replies. I am working on getting my 1960 CJ5 with the F-134 to run. The timing is way off so its sparking on the exhaust stroke and flaming out the carb. Unfortunately, I can't get the distributor to budge at all. I've been soaking it in PB blaster for the past couple days, but I can't seem to get enough torque on it to move it. Anyone have any suggestions?

    " any suggestions?" Yes... DON"T BREAK IT!

    PB blaster is good. Maybe followed by light short sharp impacts, not gorilla twisting torque. I assume you've loosened the clamping bolt.

    There is another bolt, 10mm I think, that goes up from under that plate shown in the second picture into the bottom of the distributor case bowl. That plate is slotted in both places. And can be installed upside down which will throw the timing off.

    Find a rubber mallet of a size that you can fit down in the space available around the distributor body and tap the body in various places with it.

    Sorry, Pete. No. Just what popped into my head. 3/8" or maybe 7/16" .

    Try taking the Oil pump out and go up from the bottom. a lite tap with a brass drive pin should do it

    I'll try this next... I've sprayed so much penetrating oil on it over the last few days and tapped and tapped with a hammer to no avail.

    It is 10mm on reproduction distributors, which stinks because now I have to carry a metric wrench in my Jeep toolbox.

    Finally got it to turn...ended up needing some acetone+atf and a pipe wrench
