I used my day off today on a rainy day to head down to the local custom exhaust shop and get rid of my glass packs. Those were run as true duals which turned down in front of the axle...loud and stinky.

I went with a 6" round muffler which happens to be made in the USA...shocked. It is made by AP Exhaust. It sets under there nicely. The Y was made to cross in front of the transmission crossmember. I'm happy with the setup and it is very quiet. I have to watch the tach to see when it cranks because it idles so quietly! The tailpipe exits next to the drivers side shackle. After I got the new exhaust installed, it was time for a test run, so I cruised a few more miles to the coffee shop.

I started the morning out with a full tank and I clocked a total of about 70 miles today, and my fuel gauge is setting at 1/2 tank now. Not official, but looks like about 10 mpg with the driving I did today which included mainly stop and go, some 40 mph pavement, some 25 mph gravel, some twisty roads up and down hills, cruising through a state park.

I'm very happy...new 470 truck avenger and MSD ignition ran perfect, transmission and clutch work well even though 1st gear is new and still a little stiff, no vibrations, steering is fairly tight, and the exhaust is quiet and I can hear my radio!

Future things to do include adding a rear bumper with swing away tire carrier (on order), replacing the timing cover (leaky front main), oil pump and filter adapter (leaky gasket), body work on right rear quarter panel, and swap out the guts from my existing T15 to the new case I'm waiting to arrive from Turkey.

Thank you to all who have provided help.

That's always a good feeling to get the Jeep out for a spring time shakedown. I did that last year. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and in the 70's here...time for a little cruise I think.

Nice! I'd love to see some pics of your exhaust setup. Do you have headers or the stock manifolds?
