Hi, as most of you guys probably know, I own a 66 Tuxedo park. Now recently I discovered a fuel tank that specifically said 1967-71 V-6 Underseat gas tank. My problem is I have a 66 and was contemplating buying a tank that said would fit all years 55-71 or something like that and just bring it to a muffler shop and have them braze a line in. Or ask you guys to see if this tank will fit. I think it will but I want to get your opinions on this as well. Pretty soon I will have my jeep on the road. BTW I got it running a few days after X-mas with a jerry rigged fuel system, my dad put it in time as it was about 40 degrees out of time. The whole driveline works perfectly and I cant wait to take it out on the road. Next up is body work which is going to be a whole lotta work. The body would probably be trash to you guys and would just buy a new one but Im gonna fab all new panels and stuff. Wish me luck and thanks for any help.

Hah, Just went thru this on my Tux as well. I'm guessing that the differences in the universal tank and the V6 tank are the size of the fuel outlet, and perhaps a return line as well. If you have a V6 and buy the 55-71 all-year kind, you might have to have a radiator shop replace the 1/4" fuel outlet with a 5/16". Something about the V6 requires a wider line. The V6-specific tank should have this already.

I had the 4-cyl tank and the carb was continually starving until I had a 5/16'er brazed in. No probs since. :)

Heh, yes I know, you are exactly correct in that the sizes of the fuel outlet are different. My question is will the tank for the 67 fit my 66, If not ill just buy a reg 4cl tank and braze the new fitting in. But I dont know it if will fit. Anyone have any clues?

I guess you're asking about the physical size, I've never heard of any difference.

I have never in my life seen a streetable buick v6 that can outsuck a 1/4" line. Possible I guess but most likely a restriction some where.

The 67 tank will fit in your 66.
