I recently changed out the plug wires on my 304. Before I pulled the wires I made myself a diagram of where each of them went. I checked double checked and triple checked so I know I was right. This is what I had...
    I numbered my cylinders
Starting drivers side closest to the radiator first 1, 2,3,4
Passenger side closest to the radiator first 8,7,6,5
So if you start counting at driver front then wrap around back to the passenger front for cylinder 8. Make sense? Is that how they should be numbered?

I then wrote down my dist. Cap wire placement beginning with the wire closest to the radiator and then traveling counter clockwise. Those numbers were 18436275

My firing order that is stamped on the block is 18436572 5 and 2 are switched...? I switched them both ways and it seems to run better with them the way they were... I must be numbering my cylinders wrong or something... Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Jake

I had seen something similar when i did a google search so I tried switching my wires to match and made the enging not run at all... my problem was I was counting on the cap counter clockwise when I should have been counting clockwise. Strange that the way I chose to number/count got so close to the firing order. simple problem that wasnt actually a problem at all... dont have allot of those when I am working on the jeep...

    Thanks Jake
