I cleaned up and painted my leaf spring hangers for the front end yesterday. Today, I noticed the shackle bushings don't fit right. The lower bushings which insert into the front end of the leaf spring fit tightly. The top bushings which insert into the spring hanger, are far too loose. The OD is about 1/4" off so they just fall out. I'm thinking maybe the spring hangers had rusted out on the inside? They measure about 1 1/4" ID, while NAPA (and my tape measure) shows my bushings to be .985 or .99. I have the OEM style shackles with the goofy pressed in 1/2" bolt / stud.

It appears the inside of the shackle hangers did rust out slightly. I solved the issue by spending $6 at McMaster-Carr on some sleeve bearings to make up for the gap. Also ordering some poly bushings instead of rubber, they might fit better and will last longer anyways.
