    Hi all,

As most of you know I've been learning as I go on a snow plow project compliments of the very good deal I got from forum member NJRanger.

Well aside from some tweaks and adjustments I may need to make...it is done! I realize for many of you it is a "meh" mehh situation but doing it for the first time with no directions has been quite a fun challenge. Thanks to all on the Forum for you help on this one!!

Initial trial run of just up and down can be seen here:

Did not replace springs yet, wanted to see how the ones on it felt under pressure before I replaced....and I built up a set of totally homemade and totally not strong enough plow shoes..... We shall see!
And i will NEVER get tired of plowing because I am only doing my driveway, and the only other option for that is shoveling which I hate far far more...esp down at the bottom where the Borough bums keep plowing me back in..

I've been plowing snow since the 70's, never really had much use for shoes.

I will be plowing with the windshield down, no top, no heat, no doors - I will def get some video if it ever snows!

yeah the shoes thing is only because there are some imperfections in my driveway due to age and if i destroy my driveway i'll be in deep doodoo...

That's like plowing with a tractor, done my share of that, not bad depending on the weather. On nice days after a snowstorm I've taken off the drivers door already while plowing. This was my favorite plow vehicle ever, '70 CJ5, V6, and power steering...

That's not setting down too hard. It's pretty soft, actually. There is a restrictor in the newer units to slow the fluid on the way down, don't know if the Monarch's did or not. Once you get used to it, you won't be gentle with the valve, just shove it in and go. And loose the shoes. They'll gouge slots in your driveway if they catch an edge.

Turned out it was cheaper/easier to fix a flatfender tub than the CJ5 tub. Plus I like flatfenders :)
I sold that one about ten years ago but I'm working on another one now.

No idea on the make of the canvas 1/2 cab. I bought it fairly cheap from a guy in CA, no bows, hardware, etc., and it needed some stitching redone. There is no bow under that top, the jeep has a full cage, the rear hoop was made to fit the top. Wish I had another one.

That top was probably era original.

Other than custom made, the only company I'm aware of making that style top today is Beachwood Canvas.

Yeah, x2 on loosing the shoes, you'll have much cleaner and nicer plow job with them off and not have to worry about ice.
