Brake pad question

Hi all!

I'm putting front disc brakes to my m38a1 from vitara parts.

The question is what is that metal thing to the side of the pads for, both sides have one, because the new pads don't have them.
And i don't have 8 of them to put them to the new pads

I have those on my suzuki but they are only on the outer pads I believe. They stop squeeking

Yep - anti-rattle or anti-squeal - something like that. Specific to the brand.

 

So they don't affect braking? because that is my concern. I can use the brake pads without them?

 

Do your replacement pads have a place for the clip? Will the pads fall out without the clip?

I believe they will have no effect on braking, but the pads could be noisy without them.

 

The pads will not fall out of the caliper without the clips.
This is the set up of the brake pad with the caliper. As you can see there is more clips on the caliper where the pad sits.
