I have a oil leak at the front of my oil pan. The motor was completely rebuilt with approx. two hours of running time. I used a cork gasket and Permatex gasket sealant when i installed it and noticed a slight gap between the pan and timing cover but thought the cork would make up for it.....well guess what, a slow leak. Any thoughts ? Thanks Jon.

I saw a trick on a motor building show where they dry fitted the oil pan to check for gaps and they sanded the main seal gasket a smidge to allow equal clearance on both sides of the oil pan near the timing cover. Just a thought if you take it off. It was on horsepower TV
