I have a question regarding a transmission mainshaft. I bought a SM465 1" kit about 2 years ago. I have less than 10k on this kit and I've had it apart 3 times so far. I was getting a binding in reverse when you roll in reverse and push in the clutch.
Last winter I started getting a growl and I haven't had time up untill now to tear the stupid thing apart again. I pulled the input shaft out and the surface where the pocket (roller bearings) ride, on the tip of the Novak mainshaft, is pitted and showing wear more common to shafts/bearings that have had more than 100k of use. I've never seen a set of bearings and hardsurfacing wear out so quickly. Funny thing is, the input shaft doesn't look anywhere near as bad as the mainshaft or bearings.
Has anyone ever heard of any problems with the Novak shafts? I know everyone loves them here but I've had nothing but little problems with this kit from the start. Hopefully I can get another shaft for a reasonable price! If not I will probbably scrap this 4sp and go with something else.
I'll call them if I get time on monday. 8(

WOW! I'm impressed, I just got a reply from Novak on New Years Day at 10PM!!! That's service!
Eric offered me a new main shaft for free! I will be shipping my shaft out for a replacement. WOW!
