Where do you live? Lots of places you can legally run with the windshield folded down although goggles may be required.

I used lower seat brackets and have plenty of room now. Not that I am the tallest person, but tall people don't have a problem.

I have the original style under seat tank with the sender on top of the tank. The seat mount is made from steel tubing. The seat slider/bracket is from Corbeau (racing style which is the lowest profile they sell). Seats are Corbeau Baja S. Seats slide fwd and back (further than normal due to notch cutout of wheel wells). It can be done....

a little tight, but accessible. Harder with the soft top on though. I have a few things stored in there. The seat latches in the back with a windshield latch mechanism. A rod was welded to the frame for the latch to connect. Pivot up front was fabricated. I have to slide the seat fwd a little then recline the back to pick it up Still working on something to hold the seat up while I ruffle through the tool box. It works though.

I'm not as big or as tall as you, but I added a 'ventilating windshield' to my 67 cj-5. I hated it! My eyes were about even with the top of the glass. There was no upward vision.

    I got a
69' windshield with the low wiper motor. I've loved it. I see so much better.
