    Mike,

Did you make a tow harness to tow bar SSDutch? If so can you elaborate on this portion of the harness and how you connected it?

Yea, the insturment cluster looks great.

Do you have the Amp/Oil hooked up to the Idoit lights as well as the guages?

Nothing's hooked up to anything yet...;)

Not sure what to do with the idiot lights - between going to electric gauges and a voltmeter vs. an ampmeter I haven't figured out if I can run both.

    Wiring sucks....

Been working on the tail end of the Jeep and it's been a pain in the butt.

Got all the lights hooked up, and the rear cig. lighter and aux. backup light circuit. Everything except brakelights and tail lights work.

Worked backwords and realized I had wired in my flat-tow diodes backwards. Also realized that even though I tested with a spare tailight I have the brake and tail lights reversed.:rofl:

Pulled the diodes apart. Broke the legs off one. No extras around.

Went to RS before going to the Jeep show.

Got the diodes re-done and lights moved around this afternoon. All checks fine.

Put spiral wrap on the whole rear harness. Zip tie it down nice and neat.

It strikes me - I didn't check the trailer plug. It gets hidden above the gas tank so better do it now.

    Nadda.

Only the right side tail and brake light works.

Stupid 3-way connectors I bought trying to make a nicer connection than soldering have let loose while zip-tying everything down....

Gave up for the night - didn't even clean up the workbench.

    now.

Will get back to it later next week once the weather (and I) cool down again.

OK - allergies kept me home this AM but I got bored...so dug back into it.

Replaced the taillight connection with a soldered one...parking lights work again, went to check the trailer harness and....

    Nothing.

    :?:?

Turns out the voltmeter that I've been using for 15+ years decided now was the time to give up the ghost. Tried new batteries and still nadda.

Wired up a spare tailight as a test lamp and now have power to the trailer connector.

    But in the wrong spot.

Even though I replaced those wires 1 by 1 so I would keep the colors straight....

And here I thought the dash switches and toggles were going to be the puzzle...

It's amazing what $20 will buy in the way of multimeters these days...Sears had one on sale that also does temp/frequency/capacitance.

I also ordered my Off Your Rockers steel diamond plate rockers (like I had on Dutch).

I chatted on the phone a couple times with Dan Duffy who makes them - heckuva nice guy. Supposed to be shipping them out today - unpainted (since I want to trim around my fender flares) for $140 + shipping. Given the price of steel these days that sounded pretty reasonable.

I couldn't have been happier dealing with Dan. He's a pleasure to talk with on the phone, and is very helpful with any and all questions. The rockers and corners I received from him were top-notch, an the prices really is very reasonable, especially considering how stout the pieces are.

Finally got working brake and tail lights and the rear harness all tidied up and secured last night.

Of course this was after soldering the failed taillight connection together, terminating it, and putting power to it only to still not have a working light.

I had to go into the housing and give the wire ends - where they contact the bulb - some attention.....

Got a few hours in the garage this afternoon and was able to get the w/s wipers and the "idle up" circuits run and terminated.

I also salvaged the PO's fuseblock to use to provide fuses for the relay feeder wires.

It was pretty scary to find that the *main* power connection into this whole block was just stripped wire wrapped around some tin. No solder, no tape, nothing.

Brown Santa Claus just dropped these off:

OffYourRockers brand, cut custom for the CJ6, shipped unfinished for $140 + shipping ($40 in my case) which I thought was very reasonable.

Not sure when they'll go on - first idea was to wait until I paint the exterior but it woudn't be *that* much work to rattle can them white then repaint them next year...

Couple other pics - one of the ground bus I came up with for the wiring (all RS parts, the green wire connects the bus to the mounting bolt, the firewall side of the mounting bolt has a wire that ties to the frame) and one of the PO's idea for a good main electrical connection...
