well, it appears to be a 68 by the serial (last 6 numbers) and that is about all I can tell ya from it.

Anyways its 8405017 35507 from a '70 CJ-6 unknown build month as the sticker is long gone

You've done great on CJ-5's! ... unfortunately us CJ-6's are still so poorly represented

i already have yours, got it from your profile. i collect em where ever i find them and then send updates to Mark (Zoomer) when i have significant changes. if you find a build date sticker on any jeep anywhere, post it and we can ad it to the list or pm/email it to one of us and it will be included.

by the way, we now have a page that lists about 15 or so CJ6 serials, some with build dates.

I have a 68 jeep the VIN is 8305 237xxx it’s registered as a 68. My question is i have what i think is a color plate on the passenger side is this the numbers are 395 247 what color was this jeep originally. It looks yellow first then white but it’s had about 8 coats of paint so it’s hard to tell. Thanks for any info in advance.

My 1969 CJ-5 has the VIN 8305017 352101 which the Arizona DMV says belongs to a 1968 AMC Sedan so they will not give me Title to it. I guess I will try to Title it in Idaho where I live now.

 

Jeep Vin

I recently inhareted a jeep not sure what it is, a cj-4 i think. anyway the VIN i weird only 11 digits so here it is. 8305 S 238450 it has a v-6 in it thanks fo the help.

My 68 is the same way with only an 11 digit VIN...and mine is only 190 above yours (238640). I still haven't found any other numbers on mine, so the question becomes: Were Jeeps with VINs simply stamped 'S' earmarked to have emissions regardless of the motor placed into it? I asume this, since the VIN doesn't indicate which motor to be placed into it.

ok another question. my dad doesnt think a v6 is stock for 68. and i cant find no other number plates for paint or anything.

the number plate for paint and trim codes would be on the firewall on the passenger side and it is a small aluminum tape about 1 inch long by 1/2 inch wide, oh and the v6 was available in the cj5 and 6 as early as 66, someone here can probably give you a closer start date.

Hello I'm new here (old to Jeep's) My latest jeep is you guessed a 70 here is the VIN#80305017363622 this is a wonderful site with lots of good info like our 2A page. I am looking foward to getting to know you guy's over here!! The best part about my new find is the 8,000 ramsey winch with PTO.

Definately a 1970 model, the model years shifted in august.

Thanks for postin the info, every serial and build date added makes it easier to narrow down the build dates for other members.

Just pulled my serial number plate off...

Reads: 8305 A 221821

I'm told my Jeep is a 1967 model, and it has the 225 V6.

looks like a November 66 build date for a 67 model year CJ5 with V6. congratulations
