When I put in the sm420 (I know you have a 465, but this might help anyway) I bought herms od shifter and the linkage was way too short. It would go together but didn't have enough throw. I had to make a new link that was longer. I used the Novak adapter which is just a little longer than the aa one so I figured this is what caused the problem. Herms linkage probably works great with the aa adapter. Have you tried putting the od all the way in direct with the link disconnected and verifying the linkage can connect in that position?

Here's what I did today. I took the overdrive off and put the parts together on the work bench.

Looking at the gap between the synchro and the planet hub. That looks good.

So I shifted the shift fork into direct drive, making sure the shaft was fully engaged while looking through the detention ball hole. Seems it's not fully engaging the slider ring.

Could the shift fork been installed on the shaft in the wrong spot?

Is it possible the shift fork in on backwards-----------does the center line of the fork line up with the set screw holding it in place??

I thought of that. It's on right.

It has two roll pins on mine.

I got the overdrive back from Herm. I found two washers in the shift rail. He didn't fix the problem. I called him and told him the I would pay for a new fork and shift rail. He told me the fork was in the right spot. He then said. Send it back to me. I told him I would. I'm done. I'm going to send the hole thing back to him. I don't want it back. I paid for a new unit and I got a rebuilt one. I'm cutting my losses. I'm done. Not happy about it.

What a bummer, Scott. I don't know that there is such a thing as a "new" Warn OD. I would think that all are rebuilt. Certainly doesn't make any difference in the end result. I'd be unhappy as well. I'd ask him to send a complete replacement.

Today I received a letter from the post office. They lost the overdrive. I don't understand it. I sent it in a really good box raped in heavy construction paper so it wouldn't puncture the box. It seems the box was received without any content.
    Guess I'm out $850.

No. They tell me I can only get $50. I didn't think I would have a problem. Hopefully they will find it.

Ugggggggg. My luck too. I shipped some Harmon Kardon speakers thru Fedx once.special cardboard wrap, in a box, in another box of peanuts and 2" spacers. Guy at other end refused it, sent me a photo. Was demolished when returned to me.

I swear they kicked it, then dropped it at freeway speeds then backed over it.

FedX said I didn't pack it right and denied my claim... .!?! Out about 800 also with that deal including shipping and packing and refunding speakers at other end.

    Here's a beer condolence...

I don't know if the SATURN overdrive from advance adaptor counts.I purchased one new to go behind my T-14.
Works great, very happy with it.They bought the rights or what ever from WARN.
