What I should check in details to be sure of which model I have?

The missing "V" is the key. Since the 2wd jeeps did not have that "V", and the 4wd jeeps do, it is reasonable to assume that it was a DJ6 sn 10062 initially.

The other items I mentioned in the previous post were indications, but the "V" would be the clincher for me.

Some updates of where I am going with this.

So my plan is to restore... no, is to rebuild the DJ-6 to the flavor I want it.
It's an original 1965 DJ-6 with proper ID plate so I think it worth to save it.

I bought another CJ-6 1966 as parts jeep for it.
    I will get a 1967 CJ-5 with a perkins diesel motor.

I want to keep the 4wd in the DJ-6 and I want to get the perkins diesel motor in it too.

I launched my own website and I created a blog about my project.
Here is the link if you are interested: http://jeepwillysworld.com/category/my-dj-6-1965-project/

I'm open to any comments or suggestions.

Quick question; Should I try to bleed the injector prior trying to start the engine? It has been into the garage for 2 years and not running since then.

I had to flush the old diesel from mine but it had been sitting 30+ yrs. I would start with disconnecting the lines you can, using compressed air to flush them, change the filter and then bleed the system. Add some diesel additive to the new fuel ( i used Diesel Kleen brand ). I filled the filter almost full of the additive, probably better to do a 50/50 mix of diesel and additive. Mine still would not start. I ended up having to pull the injectors and clean the carbon off the tips before it would fire up.

I made some progress on it.

The motor is now into the garage. I found out that I have a T98 transmission.
    Anyone is familiar with a T98? It's a 4 speed trans, right?
The shift pattern on the dash was for a 3 speed. So I will assume that it was "upgraded" at some point.
Also, Look like the previous owner added some spacer on the transfertcase support. Does the T98 is higher and need to get the support lower?

I will add picture of it later

Yes, T-98 is the precursor to the T-18. Good transmissions for CJ's if in good working order. Very stout with a very low first gear. The spacers were used in some 3 speed applications but may have been added because of the height of the transmission or for driveline angle issues.

Ok, that make sense. The jeep has a 3" high lift suspension. I'm not used to deal with modified jeep, I prefer stock one.
    Thanks
