OK, been doing some searching and reading. I think I have a later model (taller) windshield frame on my Jeep. Has the bolt style latches vs. flip latches, and the wiper holes, etc. have all been poorly welded up. mehh I think maybe it was rolled before, hence the replacement. Looks too tall to me, like to lower it.

Any have actual dimensions on height and pics of what this should look like? I have a pretty good idea.

    Thanks

How tall are you? I am 6' (short legs / long torso) and when I sit in my Jeep I wish mine were a bit taller, because the top of my W/S just blocks some things in my line of sight. You may want to sit in a "short" W/S Jeep before you make the move.

  3. Looks like your tub is '70 or newer since theirs no tank filler on the side but it's obviously a early short nose. Looks like it's made up of whatever parts were available after some sort of wreck.

Under seat tank ended in '70.
Looks like '69-75 windshield frame to me.

    :iagree:

Jeep looks like it's what it says it is. 1971.

1976 and up WS frames have the wiper motor inside, it's apparent yours is not from your photos. :)

Not sure what the brackets are on the top of the windshield but thats not stock for a 71 windshield frame. The inside brackets have been changed also.

I'm 6' but my seats are low. I thought some frames were actually taller but apparently, they just moved the glass/wipers around.

It's a '71 USBP CJ-6. Has original mint green under the paint pretty much everywhere, except winshield frame, haven't seen it ther,e but haven't checked.

Well, they might have been. You can tell where the holes used to be, but they're patched/welded shut.

Not sure about the top brackets,I think someone may have taken the windshield rest brackets off the hood and put them on the frame, but I'm pretty sure the inside latches should be latches, not the bolt-thru plates I have.

Plates means the Jeep came from the factory with a hard top. Factory equipment.

From the link posted it looks like it has what it should, except the latches. Later model higher curved top glass wipers at bottom.

Aaaahhh, makes sense, USBP had halfcabs on 'em from what I know. I have a hard door hinge plate or two on it still too.

Looks nothing like my WS frame that's on my '71 known to be a '76+. But you don't have to believe me I guess.

Not meant to make you sad - I removed the post after you followed up.

That the PO welded up the access holes is goofy - you need those holes to install the windshield wiper parts. Looks like the PO cancelled the wipers altogether, or at least tried to.

I'm not saying I don't believe you, I just don't know:)...I just have a junky looking W/S frame with a bunch of patches... I will compare the patch locations to my '81 frame.

I know, it's OK, I outsmarted you and copied it from the notification email. R)

Yeah, maybe he was gonna "shave" the JEEP like they do with hot rods, low riders, etc. Unfortunately, the young man is no longer with us, so we can't ask him.

I never have taken pics of the snorkel he built, have I? I'll have to get some today. Interesting...

Like others have said that's a '68-'75 style windshield. Straight sided frame, stands pretty straight up, wiper motor drive hole on the outside of the frame, curved top glass with straight sides, all dead giveaways.
