sorry mike I was gone a week in the remote outdoors....
I laid the insulation down and used aluminum tape to secure the pieces together. I didn't use glue but seems you could use double sided 3M tape in several spots if you wanted.
I used the rubber mat because I had it, but gluing the carpet directly to the insulation would work well I'd think. The insulation quality is good and with carpet should provide all the sound/heat deadening you need.
I bought 2 prefab indoor/outdoor rolls at HD (6'x8') because it was cheap but they had rubber backed auto grade carpet there as well

I've been wanting to do some body repair for awhile so I got to it the other day. I had 2 spots of damage from the 08 Rubicon trip, one to the rear wheel opening and one to the front fender. When I was doing the FI motor swap my hood was blown over and landed on the front standoff putting a softball size dent in the hood.
Here's the hood, plan is to stripe it black (ala Patrick's rig) and add some painted graphics to the sides of the hood



I have enough paint left over from the original paint job to feather in the body repairs, gonna paint the fuel filler patch at the same time




I'll get this done just in time to go do some summer rock crawling

Looking good! The hood stripe will be cool.

I ordered some of that floor insulation today. After I ran tail pipes, the mufflers get a lot hotter, making the floor boards pretty hot. I drove around today with my left foot propped on the edge of the gas tank.

 

your gonna like the insulation, it makes a huge difference

got the paint applied today, and finished the stripes as well






I painted the gas fill cover body color, and the stripes are similar to a Jeep I had before

I didn't like the oval spots I had installed so I took them back and purchased some off Ebay. They're 5" chrome (bling!) 130 watt units. I ran the wiring through the windshield frame and mounted a relay under the hood with the headlight relays
I got a better pics showing the hood stripes as well, really like em the more I see them

thanks Christian......guess I'll find out how hard it is. Thought I had it worked out with the OD but tranny is still locked up. I've rebuilt everything else on this rig so I guess the tranny felt left out

well once again I've waded into the water WAY over my head .....got the T18 pulled today and removed the main shaft/gears (thanks steve/ray)
Tomorrow I'll see if I can figure out how to pull the gears apart and hopefully figure out why this thing was freezing up

I'm sure after much consternation, and some blood and sweat I'll get it back together

so I separated the gears from the main shaft today and found the problem with the tranny. The 3rd gear had welded itself solid to the main shaft, puppy will not budge.
When we checked the tranny on the trail it was a quart to quart and a half low (I'd checked it be before the previous wheeling trip) so I'm assuming driving up to Big Bear and on some steep trails I starved the gear for oil and froze it up mehh
debating my options currently
