I pulled the mouse infested heater out. It has both cold air hose clamps still! I will be saving those for my ‘56 farm CJ5.

This jeep had an aftermarket windshield wash setup in it. I hope to reuse the washer fluid bag.

The foot pump is all dried out and cracked. Luckily I saved all original windshield stuff off the ‘70 cj5 I took apart. So I have the original dash hand pump and cowl nozzle to make it all work.

Made some repairs to the driver's door. The lower hinge was snapped off, so I welded that back on.

I had some other doors that I took out of a dirt pile and at least the driver's had the latch. Too bad the outside door handle was missing and the spring was rotted inside, so I improvised.

I used a Chinese allen wrench from a furniture kit as a handle. It works!

I had the steering servo leftover from when I did Ted's power steering setup, so I put that in the steering shaft.

What is a steering servo? Like electric power steering?

Its a control valve for the hydraulic assist I'll be putting in. Hydraulic assist is far better than a power steering box because it puts the stress on the axle and tie rod, where it should be. All the stress is removed from the frame, suspension and drag link.

I had a heavy duty Dana 25 diff cover kicking around. So I welded on the hydraulic cylinder mount to that. After a coat of chrome in a can, it came out pretty good! :D

And the hydraulic cylinder all mounted up to the jeep.

I also mounted a power steering cooler in the grille. Next is dropping the engine in!

I made up a very simple power steering pump mount for the V6. I really like these all star pumps. Very easy to work with.

Dropped the V6 in yesterday from the donor jeep and there is one issue. I love how the engine matches the jeep.

The driver's side manifold heads right to the steering shaft. I'll cut it and weld it back together once I get the transmission in.

Looking good. Thanks for posting all the part numbers (y)

Side note: Sweet Mfg. is less than 3 miles from my work, I've been there a few times to pick up goods but I always get a better price when I order from a second party performance supplier like Summit, Jegs, etc.
I can get product shipped to me from across the country for less $ than what it cost when visiting them on my lunch break and picking it up in person

Strange how Summit can sell things cheaper than the manufacturer. I could never figure that out.

When I got my Flaming River steering column, was talking to tech person at Flaming River. Got everything figured out. He asked if I was ready to order. I told him I can get it cheaper though Summit. He said ok, call back if there is a problem.

I put the transmission in today. Its finally starting to come together! Hopefully it will run soon!

I used the 1970 transfer case mount too, since the hole didn't line up in the crossmember.

I had to modify the driver’s side manifold to clear the steering shaft. I cut it apart and tig welded it together with special filler rod.

Been tinkering with it here and there when I have time. But I finally got it running! Sounds pretty good with open manifolds. The power steering works great too! Next up is the radiator and then an exhaust.

Hey Garage Gnome, any chance you also had the "un-obtanium" hood reflector mounts on that 70 that you would be willing to part with :D, Also, nice work on the exhaust manifold!
