    Here is where I stand as of now. Fairly pleased with how it looks so far.     Now, my question to the wise ones: what I currently have is a cheap harbor freight mig welder. Would that be enough to weld those pins to the bracket or should I use a stick welder? That us my other option, since I own a Lincoln electric.

    Since no wise ones have chimed in, I guess I will.

    IMO, either should be fine. The welds are just to hold that piece in place, so very little stress should be on the welds themselves. Just be sure to weld the bolt on the insides of the bracket. That way if the welds ever do fail, what's left of the welds will hold the bolt from fitting through the hole. It might rattle, but it shouldn't come out.

    Edit: I just noticed, I thought the inside went through the bracket; it just butts up against? Clean up that material with a grinder before welding, and weld with whatever you feel most comfortable with. It will help to preheat the base metals before welding if using an underpowered machine.

    ITLKSEZ, the inner part does go through the bracket. I cut a recess on it so it goes in but does not extend past the wall. My plan is to weld on both of the inside walls as well as on the back side of the bracket. Thanks for the heating tip!:beer:

    Can anyone, pretty please give me dimensions on the location of the tail light panel rear support bracket? After I cut my rear floor off and dumped it I realized I did not have them on the new rear floor. Does it have two or four (two on the rear floor and two on the rear fenders). Thanks!

    Some progress... the more holes I patch up, the more holes I find!:cry:
    But I think there is light at the end of the tunnel with my tub (I just hope is not a train!). I am 90% done with the floors and now I am patching up damaged sections here and there.

    I will try to stay away from hot rolled sheet metal in the future. It does not look as nice as the cold rolled on the other patches.

    Buy two, or four, install where it pleases your eye. Doesnt seem like you are going after a concourse restoration so akuna matada (more is better). Someone will be along with a real answer soon, though. Classic Enterprises has pieces like that if you meed some.

    You could not be more right about not doing a museum piece. The thing is that I don't even have the rear crossmember to use as a reference. I want to finish the tub and I don't want to weld them at the wrong place. The supports I am fabricating myself.

    Oh, THOSE ones. I thought they were the ones that go inside the tub.

    There are four angled supports along the rear of the tub, two are longer. The longer ones mount in the rear wheelwell are next to the taillight location, and the two shorter ones mount up under the bed area. The angled short leg of all four brackets rest on the rear crossmember (with a bushing). If you still have any of your crossmember in place, that would show the bracket locations.

    It was beyond recognizable when I got to it. To top it off I dumped it. That's why I have been asking for a aketch/dimensions of a rear crossmember to reproduce it and to place the brackets in the right position.

    My first attempt to fabricate my rear floor support brackets... I will trim and drill the rubber mount hole as I fit them to the tub.

    It is very frustrating not being able to work on the jeep as much as I want, but I hope, when I finish a few things I'm working on I will be able to resume. In the meantime... fabricating my rear crossmember is both a joy and a bit of a challenge. I got a little carried away with the tig on such large panels and some warping happened. It is now under control, but I like making stuff with my own hands. And as an added bonus I get to practice the tig welding. I am taking less and less "walks of shame" ( to clean the contaminated tungsten).
