How much room do you have between the windshield and frame? Hard to judge from the angle but it looks somewhere between a roof basket and a roof rack with bikes.

Not sure how much space I’ve got above the Jeep, but it’s a 9’ tall by 10’ wide door. What I lack in shop space, I tried to trick myself into having it feel bigger by having a huge door to keep open.

I'm thinking my wagon is the biggest vehicle I can stuff in my garage. (HVAC leaking windshield water into the carpet & = MOLD!)

Things are moving forward... still slowly. Happy to say that my roof, eaves, and gable ends are totally done!

Next on the list is siding on the south side so I can build the carport. I ordered my siding a couple weeks ago and I was surprised to see it delivered yesterday morning at 6:30. The local lumber yard has been great for ordering material from as the delivery guy is willing to take his forklift down the hill and drop off product right in front of the door.

The colors I chose to complete the pallet are a tan and kind of a funky patina green. It’ll have a 42” wainscoting all the way around.

Feels great to know that I’ll hopefully never have to go on the roof ever again. Not a huge fan of the looks of a steel panel roof but for the cost, ease of install, and typically a lifetime warranty on the product and a 40 year on the finish who can complain? I put the same on my last house and I think it’s just great. This time I’m sort of embracing it more since the siding will match... straight up barn look minus the red paint and white trim.

Thanks! Hard to believe I’m getting dangerously close to one year since concrete forms went up.

Completed my LED lighting upgrade last week.

Seems just normal light in the daytime, but it's as if it were an operating theater at night.

Looks nice Tim - I was going to do the same, but now that I may be moving, I'll look at it for the new shop. The wife has at least committed to letting me have a bigger one in the new place if we move to Salt Lake.

    Thanks for the compliments!

The first lights for my garage were Lithonia 8' T12 shop lights with magnetic ballasts from Home Depot. The magnetic ballasts don't work well in the cold, and they have been failing one every few months since they were installed more than a decade ago (usually just one bulb fails, with the characteristic flicker and noise). These were being slowly replaced with new T8 Lights of America shop lights with electronic ballasts from Walmart. These too have started to fail one by one.

I fitted all the Lithonia fixtures (good thing I save everything!) with these bulbs, failed or not.

The fixtures must be internally rewired to use these bulbs, but rewiring the Lithonia fixtures is really easy. The magnetic ballasts were cut out and went in the trash, wires were cut and stripped, and grouped together with two wire nuts.

The garage has 18 fixtures with 2 bulbs each, so this was not cheap. I kept four of the Walmart T8 fixtures, all the rest have these LED bulbs. Fortunately you can buy larger boxes of these bulbs, which saves some money.

Had some trepidation when buying the bulbs, but I really like the result. (y)

What happened to that hood, did you get hit by a prop when using a snorkel set-up or something?

Came to me that way. Ask the PO.

Not so obvious in the sunlight. The lighting angle in the picture highlights it.

I've used Feit Electric 4ft LED lights from Costco in two different shops. It's worth watching for sales. I've gotten them for as little as $20 each.

Here we are installing them in the current shop. Once we get the house done and the junk out of the East bays, we'll get the second half of them up. They really light up the shop.
