MD Juan Tub Kit 1969 CJ5 4CLY (7/2016)

I bought the Stewart Warner fuel gage today on Ebay. $40. About equal to the cost of two that didn't work.



I'm going to let OconeeOnLine continue. They offered to shift to the Crown brand to get me an undamaged gage. I'll compare all the gages I end up with and report my results here.

I'm just paging through the FSM and parts book and I see a PCV valve in both. When I got my Jeep it didn't have an air filter or PCV valve or hoses.

Do you know if the 1969 cj5 should have it. If so, I need to get it and properly route these hoses.

I bought the PCV valve but it isn't clear where it goes in the FSM photos. Any comments?

This is what the FSM shows as a F134 PCV position. It just didn't translate into a port I could find in the inlet header in my engine photo.

There is a square plug above your distributor. The PCV valve connects there, and a hose runs from the PCV to the top of the valve cover. The dipstick tube port connects to the air cleaner.

 

Ok! That has to be this little baby port than with the square plug closing it now.

I see from Howard's picture I'll need a reducing brass elbow (no vacuum anything on my 1969).

There will be a short delay in finishing our build.

The bad news, I found out this past Friday I got colon cancer. The good news, they got those positive cancer results from a biopsy taken this past Monday (when my offending body part was removed). The really, really good news...I was "cured" before I knew I had cancer!

Get your "every-5-year-test" on time, on schedule ...yes, THAT test... It just saved my life.

So... someone please tell Joe I was right; we won't be done in March.

P.S. they used a laparoscopic technique to pull 2' of me, outside of me, via my naval (seriously), then section it out to send it off to the lab, and then they sewed the two ends back together. I wanted to watch but they said "no way". Oh, since they were already working near by... really, really, really near by...I got a free apendectomy!!! But the purpose of this P.S. is to share this final part... I had to get up and walk the next day. I walked 1-1/2 miles. And another 1-1/2 miles the day after that. I am amazed how far medicine has come that a person can walk the day after being gutted like that.

Ok, you'll hear no more, "want to see my scar," comments from me.

EDIT/UPDATE: Completely off all pain meds in two weeks... (Never needed more than over the counter stuff). "Everything else" nearly normal! Life is Good! Operation anemia symptoms (mostly fatigue) need a few more weeks to return to normal. Medicine has come a long way!

 

Good news Jim! Sounds like you are already on your way to a speedy recovery. It will be ok to let the Jeep can take a backseat for a while. A little while. Best Wishes

Glad you both had success....first thing I tell when I go in for anything is"you know I don't want to know anything so turn up the happy juice"

 

Had "that" test back last summer, they found a bit of blood so in they went through the back door-they snipped two polyps off while they were in there but they weren't cancerous.

Was cool watching on the TV though- two screens so not matter which way they maneuvered me I had a view

LOL, I have had 4 trips thru the mushroom forest, all clean since the 1st one when the cut them out, always wanted to narrate the video like lenord Nimoy!!

Joe is taking a 3 week trip "South" (of Pittsburgh) and ending up in Flordia, (where our CJ5 came from and some of our family ended up). He's a really friendly guy. Send him a PM (Navy Joe) and have him stop by to see your Jeeps (if his course and schedule meshes with yours).

When Joe gets home, we have to install an oil pump, a fuel level sensor/sender, an original fuel gage, a fresh inlet air tube, the PCV valve, US NAVY stencils, seats (after re-foaming, and sewing new fabric). When my wife isn't looking I'll sneak in some of these... (10# limit for now)

Edit: plus soft top frame mount (via stock bow wells to avoid additional drilled holes).

 

Yesterday Joe visited my uncle Dale and he reminded me that Dale was also in the Navy. It is my pleasure to add his name to the family roster of those who served in the Navy and who we recognize with our US Navy tribute Jeep.
