I think you just need to add a little of the free brake fluid your friend provided and you're good to go!

That and every component of the system from front to rear.

Pressure washed and did a total rebuild of the rear frame.

Windshield frame was beyond repair so I stripped off the good stuff.

    The upper hinges fought me.

Good news. I’ve been putting off looking into the transmission but it was time. This looks better than I even hoped!!

After pressure washing yesterday I found this tag on the TC. I assume it’s a rebuild??

    I’ll get a better photo

Getting the bed floor fitted for welding.

Welded and a coat of primer.

It’s still a rusty mess but the seats will stay in.

I’m calling this part done. 1can = 3 coats of Rustoleum maroon.

    No more bungee cords.

It has all new brakes and bearings. Next is the transmission cover, fuel tank and seats. Then I can make it run! :bananatool::clap:

You did more for your floor than I did, and mine has lasted 30 years. I just pop-riveted a piece of 16 gage mild sheet steel on top of the original rusty floorboard. I did fill in the gaps with fiberglass and bondo though . It was my daily driver then. Had to keep the water out.

That's a bit corroded! Did you find that jeep when scuba diving?

Had carpet glued to it. Might have trapped some moisture.

I just hate putting rusty crap back on the jeep so most of my evening was patching transmission cover.

    Better

I didn’t want that to be the only thing that I got done so I made a couple straps for the fuel tank.

Short Jeep work evening. Started on fuel lines but got distracted by the exhaust. Since I brought the Jeep home a couple months back I’ve hit the exhaust manifold bolts with PBBlaster 4 or 5 times. That paid off today when I removed all 12 bolts (and reused them) without any broken bolts or stripped heads!! Put back in with a little Anti-seize grease. Thanks Warlock for the free headers for the free Jeep!!!

Hey Scott I think you want those header bolts to seize so they stay tight.

Do you have any good fenders for a 64 cj5

Hey! I have one new fender for an early CJ! Driver’s side, with inner fender.

However… I’m in Minnesota; shipping could get ugly.

What do you mean with iner fender

It’s a welded unit: fender and inner fender all welded together. Lemme get a pic; that’ll help.

it has the recess and hole for a marker light that may need to have a ‘patch’ welded on. I think most of the early models don’t have those…
