I didn’t disassemble the distributor, so I hope not.
I was up to 40 with the drill. I don’t have a tach but was getting up to 40 at 1500-2000 rpm.
I don’t know how much time I’ll get before the weekend, but I’ll start with the distributor and post the results.

I guess I’ll look for a new oil pump and learn how to rebuild a distributor!

Haven’t seen that one before! At least you found the answer. Now, are those rod bearings OK?

Darn it. Maybe it wasn't down all the way, just barely engaged?

I suggest an upgrade to the Melling high volume pump kit. They are about 60 bucks. You may want to do the fitting with the timing chain cover off.
If you're not sold on the stock points distributor, Might think about an HEI upgrade. A stock 1976 231 oddfire HEI will drop in with a bit of finagling. You will never have to set your point gap or timing again:bananatool:.

The distributor gear still had plenty of oil on it, so here’s to hoping!

    Putting this one to bed…hopefully.
New oil pump from TA performance and all is in order. Still using my old distributor but I have a new one with pertronix that I couldn’t get to fire. I think I may still have timing or carb issues, but we’re running with good oil pressure!

    Thanks again everyone!
