AFAIK, Yes it would. Its the same Firewall penetration . The pedal pushrod may need changing / modifying , though.

I would keep both systems. Trail riding all day, you do not want to fight a steering wheel with aired down tires. On power brakes less effort to apply brakes and when you are starting on a hill and doing the 3 pedal two foot dance to get moving, power brakes will help.

Looking at picture, can you find a shorter booster. Looks like all you need is a couple inches.

Take the reservoir off the pump. Cut the filler off and weld a plate over the hole. Drill a hole on the left side of the reservoir. Get some correct sizing tubing. Look at muffler pipe. Weld it in the reservoir extending it to miss brake booster and then add cap. Might have to get someone to tig weld it.

Here are a couple of pictures of the engine bay. I'll look for more detailed pictures.

The remote reservoir link is probably the easiest option without rework.

Just get the Gm remote setup. Its better than the ham can anyhow.....

Early Bronco uses a bracket that turns the axis of the brake cylinder.

The remote reservoir is likely the neatest solution. I expect you could cut the filler neck off of the ham can and fit a remote reservoir rather easily. I'd solder a flat piece where the neck was, and a filler to a remote reservoir. The ham can comes off so you can work on it. Remove the fitting and mounting studs, and there is an o-ring around the pump that you'll probably want to replace. There's a seal kit for the pump including the o-rings.

The remote reservoir is going to be both the easiest to install and by far the cheapest solution. Speedway has a relatively cheap, decent looking reservoir https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-Vertical-Power-Steering-Fluid-Reservoir-Tanks,2062.html. Hydroboost is nice but in my experience pretty much overkill in a CJ unless one is running 1 ton axles and 40" tires. GM was using Hyrdoboost at least back to 73 on their heavy duty pickups. That system was nearly identical to the current version.

not much info on the depth of boosters on parts sites. All booster dimensions refer to diameter as far as I've seen.

    Thats only $284 !!
It would be the easiest bolt in solution.

    Looking at this -

I wondered why there is an inlet and an outlet. Presumably you can connect your low-pressure return hose from the steering gear to the top fitting, and then connect the bottom fitting to the pump. This way you could remove and seal the original filler neck and not need to add any separate connection to the pump. Anybody done it this way?

I wonder if air trapped in the ham can would matter?

Thanks Tim, This looks like it can be an inexpensive solution.
I think I'm going to try to relocate the filler neck on my existing pump/reservoir first. I could possibly make this work with just a couple hours of cutting and welding. Zero cost.

There may be cheaper ways to put something like this together. You may want to do a little research on these setups as well as verify your pump/box fitting sizes before buying a kit.

That is the way my 3B has been set up for a couple of decades. I have an overflow tank plumbed to mine with a bellows type breather. Sort of hard to see as it is engulfed with wiring but----

I remembered cutting my reservoir up to add more volume for the plow hydraulics, and it being super thin metal. Found this:

My view , from Scott's original pic of his setup , is that it's abnormally obtrusive . It's gotta be a PITA to work over & around that thing ?
I mean , Don't PB Booster diaphragms mount close to the firewall ? Since that wasn't original to his' 66 , what was that unit from ? A YJ ? I just don't think that should be out that far into his engine Bay?.......Just Sayn'
