Well, years of vibration have taken their toll, and the metal bracket that mounts my tach on the steering column has broken.
Has anyone come up with a nice mount to attach a tach to the stock steering column?

Howard your behind the times and showing your age. The modern high tech way is like this, last longer and is water proof.:lol::lol::lol:

If you have a leaky tach you have bigger problems

True, true, but you could also cut the tech into and tape it back together and it would still work. :bananatool:

In a serious answer to your question Doug, mine is over 30 years old and has not broken, so not sure what to tell you. Have seen some held on with a big hose clamp, but think they look like :poo:

I just used a hose clamp for radiator hoses to radiator or pump.

Try mending the bracket with JB weld! A large hose clamp or heavy duty Velcro might be a temporary fix.

Come on you guys....the guy is asking for help. I'd suggest you drill a hole all the way thru the shaft and use a cotter pin or screw and nut. However, in the interest of full disclosure, it might affect your power steering.

What is this "power" steering you speak of?

here's a picture of the broken bracket for reference, just in case someone has an idea that doesn't involve duct tape LOL

How does the mounting bracket attach to the back of the tach? Maybe a pic of the back of the tach.

I'm agreeing with trying weld it but it's a small piece.

As for the power steering, as I get older the power is slowly fading for some strange reason.

I use to see those old Sun tach brackets on E-bay all the time...........it can be welded , find a piece of .060 -.085 wall tubing the correct ID , make it a little longer and then a gusset can be added as long as you leave a slot for the band clamp to fit through...

Torch or TIG weld it, it will be better than new. Good luck

    Yeah, $22, plus $7 shipping
    I'll pass.
Besides, the point of this thread was to try to come up with something better than that bracket hose clamped to the column.
