Still a work in progress, but here it is so far....

Hopefully I can dial in the mechanicals this year, and hopefully next year paint and body!

Took me a while to realize who you were. I worked on a CJ7 you had years ago. You graduated in '88 I believe....Alex.......

Yep....that's me! You put in a gas tank and weber carb on my 1980 CJ-7. Ended up selling that one due to needing a daily driver w/good mpg. Had just bought a house and all...

Then I smartened up and got back into the Jeep game.

Got your PM...sounds like a plan, as I love talking Jeeps!

How does it ride with that hard top on???????
Mine originally came with a hard top but was removed and discarded in the early 80's.

The ride isn't too bad w/the hard top, even with the 4.5" springs. I think once the springs settle in, it will be just fine for what it is.

Bad aspects of the hardtop - LOUD! It's like sitting inside a drum. Every crack, bump, pothole, you name it, it comes through. Also, the climate is greatly affected, i.e., really hot in the summer, and super cold in the winter. Once the heater gets going, it starts to rain inside the cab on a cold day.

Good aspects - The windows roll down, which is cool on the curved door openings. Also, it's kinda fugly, which makes it cool in my mind...different can be a good thing.

Ultimately, I will either store it, or perhaps even sell it. Once I can afford the roll cage and soft top, the hard top will likely be a conversation piece.

    A few things:

    1) Rebuilt front frame and rebuilt suspension - M.O.R.E. shackle reversal w/RE 4.5" springs. New shocks, stabilizer. Longer braided brake lines.
    2) Rebuilt carb. It was converted to a 4 barrel off of a full size Jeep back in the 70's. I simply had the shop rebuild the "factory" 4 barrel. (autolite, not sure which model)
    3) Electronic ignition using whatever AMC used starting in the later 70's, Duraspark??
    4) New gas tank.
    5) New master cylinder for hydro clutch.
    6) 33x12.50 BFG MT's on 15x10 Outlaw II's

    Still need:

    1) Steering box is going out.
    2) Need to really shake it down to bring out any gremlins.

    Wants!:

    1) Roll Cage
    2) Soft Top
    3) Disc Brakes
    4) 4.56's on Dynatrac Pro-Rock 60's or Currie 9" (Yeah, like that's gonna happen any time soon!)
    5) AMC 360 to replace 304, with FI!
    6) etc
