I'm entertaining the idea of a replacement set of taillights. My current set is functional, but one lens always pops off and both are somewhat lackluster and worn out. Not too worried about originality as long as I'm emulating the general shape and size.

    I like these:

    1928-31 Ford Model A lights
1928-1931 Ford Model A Stainless Steel Taillight Kit

Same year, Ford "STOP" Tail lamp.
1928-1931 Ford Model A "Stop" Tail Lamp, 12 Volts

Then there's the more standard Jeep taillights.

    Jeep CJ5
Tail & Stop Light Assembly for Passenger Side Fits 55-69 CJ-3B, 5

    CJ2a/3A/3b
Tail & Stop Light Assembly for Drivers Side Fits 46-55 CJ-2A, 3A, 3B

Any other cool options? I'm thinking LED's are cool, but I don't want to have to mess around with any complicated installs that have me having to mitigate a "blinky" that doesn't want to "blinky"

The blinky issue is resolved with an electronic blinky fluid flasher- plug'n'play. :) The ford lights are neat but at that price point I'd be worried about quality.

haha! I know folks do LED installs - I just have much discomfort with all things electrical. :D I'd love plug-n-play kit if it exists.

Speedway stuff is usually good-to-go, but good point. I'll do some research there.

Be aware some early type lamps do not incorporate reflectors, which are now required.

I used LED Model A ford style tail lights on my Willys MB "clone". They fit the holes for the original military lights, have a "vintage look" and are a lot brighter than the military lights, and brighter than regular bulb lights. These style lights are very popular with the hot rod crowd, and the vintage motorcycle guys.

For my 67 CJ5 I ordered a set from Walcks that are nearly identical to the originals other than not having the Halls brand stamp. I haven't installed them yet but I did test them and am very pleased with the quality of them.

Got it thanks! Have any links saved for what you used?

No, don't have any links, but I found the Model A style on Ebay a couple years ago, lots of sellers had them.

The CJ5 tail lights I recently got from Walcks and you can find them on their website, just as I did. They are very nice.

I use the 3" Grote Trailer lights, they are available in most Truck Stops or Major Auto Parts stores Nation wide.

If the vehicle didn't come equipped with them from the factory, then they are not. Same with seat belts.
