1948 cj2a

    I'm pretty sure my grill and windshield frame are original items, as well as the big trans cover. fenders I'm not sure. everything fits pretty well with the exception of the tranny cover. I was going to use a bestop. So I had checked the measurements they spec before I took it apart of paint, and they were dead on, so I would suspect that the canvas top would be the same. I think I want to do the canvas top now, they just look so much better. But I need to figure out how to get the top bow pockets on without welding my freshly paint tub.

    I'm thinking canvas also. I was extremely disappointed when I learned about my body, but I am now looking forward to utilizing the tool indents and glove box. Are you going to do the shovel/axe thing?

    Love that color on there and your fab work is great! I'm interested in the seat frame you have there. Do you happen to have a picture of it from end to end without the seats on? The ones on mine are rotting out and I'll need to figure out a replacement soon.

    Hello there
    i've run into the same problems with the fuel tank not fitting. Where did you get the dj3 fuel tank from and what did it cost?
    Also where did you get the shackles on the rear leafsping, or what model did they come from.
    If i move my bumper back like you did i see my c type hitting the tank or if down the road i have to
    work on them i would have to remove my tank.
    Any help would be great, thanks

    the shackles are nothing special, just aftermarket CJ, have had them Bouncing around for years

    Rich - contact McRuff. He has a pattern for good shackles I gave him a few years ago. Every once in a while he whips up sets and sells them to folks on the board. Just over stock in length, square lock mid bracket, work perfect in most spring setups.

    I had some nice cj5 seats I was using, but I didn't like the look, so I decided stock seats were what I wanted. But they were not going to just drop in where I want them. I want the seat as low as possible, and as much foot room as possible.
    The under seat tank is gone, so no need for the seat supports in the way of the feet.
    Time to start cutting.
    Nothing like cutting up $500 worth of new seat pans.

    I used a Ezwire harness to rewire the jeep. Being only the 2nd vehicle I have wired from scratch, I took my time, planned, and double checked everything. I used Solder and Seal connectors on all connections and added a shrink wrap on any connection exposed to the elements. ( BTW, the solder and seal connectors are fabulous) Went to test it last week and kept blowing the turn/hazard and brake fuses. Spend a couple of days checking all my connections. Everything still looks good, so I call EZwire, the tech has me check 2 things, which are both good, and says the problem has to be the steering column wiring. He asks if if I'm using a JY column or something else. If it was a JY one, he would suspect the column wiring. But I'm using a nice flaming River column, so he thinks its the turn/hazard switch in the column. So I order a new one. To replace the switch, I have to take the column apart, and to do that, I have to take the column out, which is a PITA, because it takes 2+hours to put back in. As soon as I pull it out, I find the wiring problem.
    I pinched the wires of the column with the mount when I installed it. Stupid mistake that I spent hours trying to find.

    And after a bunch more hours changing the switch in the column, and putting the column back in, it looks like the wiring is good.
