I prefer flush mount units, myself. Please don't use old Chevy truck lights or Mustang tail lights.

I need something of a small diameter, I plan on making the tailgate wider than stock, so the fender corners are going to be narrow. I'm kinda tempted to use J10 taillights, but I'd like to keep it more CJ-esque. And, yes, in no way will I use chevy truck or mustant lights.

I don't know about the taillights but this thing is going to be awesome.

Look into the old Willys wagon tail lights from '54 to '64. They're small, wrap right on the corner, and are real vintage Jeep!

Great job so far! I have a similar idea. I have a lwb J10 rusting in the yard along with a d60,14bolt, tbi 350, and 4l60. I'm tempted to ditch the body.

Got the engine harness hooked up, steering column is in, and the engine turns over. Picking up a set of TJ doors, I like the lack of vent windows. Gonna work on getting the hard top mounted and cut down, and then also work on getting the fuel tank wired, and hooked up.

CJ10's used J10 frames, so if the factory did it, it can be done.

Got the TJ doors to fit, don't believe what you read on the internet, they do not just slap in place. They fit sans weather stripping.

Cleaned up the interior of the cab, and got a protective coat of enamel down, should have done that back in the fall, had some surface rust pop up due to primer not being a sealer......

I cut down and welded in the battery box cover that goes on the passenger side of the cowl, and also welded on the little bump out piece that goes on the driver's side. I had to cut down the battery cover since there is a cowl vent in the middle of the cowl on the YJ tub. I have no idea what that bump thing is on the driver's side of the cowl. yeah, yeah pics, we need pics.

Since I got the TJ doors to fit, I'm going to tackle the cutting of the Meyer hard top to fit the shortened tub next.

The bump thing is probably the early mirror mount.

    Here is a picture.

yeah that's it, was not sure what it was used for. I'd like to get a set of those fender mounted military black out lights, I know KW sells knock offs. Any idea what diameter are those BO lights?

That light on the fender is a BO Drive .

That photo shows the wiggle in the hood to accommodate the wire.
