    On Grants last pic you can see the pivot point. The end of mine falls out of that socket. I suspect it's a 5 minute fix. I'll put it in the list to fix before the new owner picks it up.

    So the prop rod is integral with the hood?

    How does it stow away?

    you can see the clip under the lip of the hood, towards the right, in the top pic. that hits the prop in the middle, then another to the right further holds it up.

    I think the hood prop rod came in with the change of the grill (around '68?) with the larger signal lights and flatter radiator tunnel with a safety catch.

    My Wrangler has a safety and it bugs the crap out of me. Seems all wrong on a Jeep.

    Is that a retrofitted old prop rod or new?

    I would vote retrofit. There's no latch hole in the hood and its on an older grille.

    yep rod and grill hook came off a 76 jeep
    he drilled a little hole at ball end and punched a recess with a large punch . got the rod holder from jeep also
    only part he had to make was the center piece
