Which way does the coolant flow?

I am winterizing my jeep before it gets any colder up here. Instead of a block heater I am using something that warms the coolant, I believe it's called a circulation tank heater. It has to be mounted vertically and it has an in and an out. If I hook it up backwards it won't work.

So my question is which way does the coolant flow in the system. The two lines I have going to my heater are on the top rear of the head, and on the passenger side of the water pump. Should I try and connect it to my lower radiator hose or can I hook it to my heater hoses. thanks

hooking it up to the lower radiator hose will allow the flow to go through your radiator,

coolant should flow from your water pump though your heater core then back to the engine.

I'm going to need a lot more details on this one! How does the thermostat come into play? Are you completely bypassing the radiator? Does it hook on your heater hoses? Is this an AC powered unit? Pictures would be awesome.

The circulating tank heaters I have used in the past went in the lower rad hose. That allowed it to heat the block, heater in cab, then open Tstat and flow to rad. Used one for 12 years that way.

Nevermind. I returned the one I had and got the one that mounts inline with the lower radiator hose. Problem solved and installed in 7 minutes. Finally something that didn't take a month to finish. Thanks for the help.
