Which clutch

    ok after searching around the NOVAK site for about 30 mins i cant seem to find the info on which clutch you use when doing a Chevy 90* v-6 to ford T-18? maybe someone has the direct link or knows the site better. i think it is time to just get the clutch say forget dad and call up my buddys and install the drivetrain when he is not looking.

    You have to have a Ford disk so that the splines match the transmission, and a GM cover so the bolts line up. The diameters have to match ... there may be something more subtle to consider, like hub or spring interference on the disk, but I bleeve that's the gist of it.

    Yup, that's the gist of it. Some people will use the GM disk. It works but I've never been a fan of it as the id of the splines is 1/16" larger that what it should be on the Ford splines. Again, I've seen it work fine for years, but won't do it on my vehicles. If using the Ford main drive gear then you need also to have the front bearing retainer machined down or the end of it may hit the pressure plate fingers. Plus it must be machined down to fit the GM bellhousing. By machining the bearing retainer to match GM specs you can also use a stock GM throwout bearing. The GM pilot bushing must also be reamed out to accept the pilot of the Ford input. These can be purchased from Novak, Jeg's, Summit, R&P, and others or take a stock GM bushing and have it done at a local machine shop if you can't do it yourself. Nickmil.
