Looking at replacing the ignition switch on the 70 v6 cj5, and found that it isn't the standard 4 terminal switch. Actually, I think its basically a 4 terminal switch, but has the blade adapters. It looks like this:
Ignition Switch with Keys Fits 67-72 CJ-5, Jeepster

Its designed to accept the wire harness plug - it fits one way only. There are also a few extra blades for accessories etc, and I think I can figure out the blades as they are on mounted to the standard ST (starter), ACC, IGN 'posts' but not sure which post is +12V (Batt) and what the '5th' post would be? Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this - and maybe even what the OEM wiring colors would be.....

Also, I am debating what is the best replacement options for this switch. I can buy th Omix direct replacement (but its Omix), or I could cut the harness plug off and manually add ring terminals and use a quality 'made in USA' Standard 4 post switch.

I wound up with a blade style instead of screws and the locating notch is 90deg out so every time it goes in for an inspection or exhaust work they say they can't get the key out and the battery is dead.

The smp switch looks just like the factory switch in my '69. I dont know what the "torpedo" does either, might be for a different application.

The switch I got in the box of '69 Jeep parts from NickMil has the torpedo too. I think the torpedo is for a light bulb. Some applications must have had a lighted ignition switch so you can find it in the dark.

The chrome trim ring has one tab at the 12 oclock position. Should be easy to take the switch out and fill a new notch in the mounting hole. If you push the switch body towards the dash and twist the switch comes right out

This the the blade terminal switch that came out:

Pollak - made in USA. Dont know if this is original part, or if its been replaced at some point. The lock cylinder certainly has been replaced. I bought a BWD CS17 replacement that is identical from FLAPS (except the Pollak and made in USA) - it was in stock at my local store, had a 20% online discount and an $5 rewards discount - can't do better than that from the online discount or jeep suppliers even without shipping.

Here is the terminal end - It has 1 Batt blade, 2 ST, and 4 each for Acc and Ign. The wiring harness connecting plug uses 6 of the blades (circled in green), but for my plug only 4 of the 6 plug spots were wired. Neither of the 2 Acc blades in the harness had wires - only the Batt, ST and 2 Ign wires. Don't know if that is how it was OEM, or if the Acc wires have been pulled (guess they were for the heater fan and cigarette lighter which had been wired into an aftermarket fuse block by the PO. I've since redone quite a bit of rewiring and new fuse blocks with a keyed relay etc so I don't need all 4 Acc terminals. I connected the fuse box relay to one, and the Sparton turn signal wire to the other.
