On my 61, originally there were "flange panel nuts" (?). I dunno what else to calll them. 1/4-20 nut inside a slip-on cage that went over the edge of the floor pan. Need some of those. On the 70, apparently they spot-welded a threaded chunk on. Some of them are missing also.

Before I put the trans cover back on the 70, I want to resolve this nut job. Can't seem to find where I located "caged nuts". Nor have I figurred out how I want to deal with the difference in the floor pan flange edge. 61 is flat. 70 is a flanged edge itself; might make fitting a cage nut over that edge kinda "iffy". No welder handy.

What are you folks doing with this issue? I don't like having to wrassle with vise-grips, and don't always have spare hands on the other side

Thought they had an assortment of caged nuts at the Autozone (in Everett MA). You might try the "Help" section, or MSC www.mscdirect.com

Gotta check the "help" section this am for some elec connectors; will look for "caged nuts", or whatever we should call them. Still wondering how to deal with the flange issue on the 70, tho.
