Hello all, tonight I finished my disc break conversion. I got all the new brake line plumbed to the power brake booster, system bled and everything's a go!! Thanks for all yalls help! This week Im tackling a Saginaw power steering conversion. My question is I need some sort of custom link made up from my tie rod bar up to the Pittman arm. Any suggestions? The jeep has about 9" of lift. Thanks again for all the help!

Bad idea on the Z-link, they will work but are very week at the bend and really no way to correct it.

High Steer is the best but with a 25/27 you're looking at some very custom work.
I'd suggest a drop pitman, and a tie rod flip, this should get you pretty close.
9" is a lot of lift for a 5, is this all suspension lift? w/body lift? or total including the tires lift?

Z bar drag links can be re-inforced at the bends with a gusset. 9" of lift? I have to ask myself why? SBC, D27 and 37"s, you won't have to worry about the front axle lasting very long, then it's easier to do a high steer on a D44.

The Z bar drag link can be reinforced but that won't fix the basic problem which is bump steer. Your drag link needs to be as parallel with the tie rod as possible. With 9" of lift that's gonna be a real problem. That much lift and tire size on that running gear and an 81" wheel base is asking for problems IMHO. I'd drop down tire size and ditch that much lift.....

Pete has a 3" lift. The tie rod flip I did brought the drag link almost parallel to the tie rod. That puts you back to something equilavent to a 6" lift w/o the flip. A modest dropped pitman arm (say 3") will give you close to stock angle on the drag link. Here's a pic.

Its a spring over lift with 2" lift shackles. I know the axles wont last to long. I just bought this thing form a friend. I'm not really into rock crawling, just mud bogging. We've run this thing with these tires for a while and haven't had any problems so far. I was just adding power steering cause it wasn't a lot of fun working that hard to turn this thing. It's this big for the wow factor again...R) We get a lot of looks.....The more I look in to it I think Ill just have to fab up some serious custom linkage.

Second thing, anyone know where to get a D44 at a reasonable price?

Best bet is a Waggy but it's going to be about 10" wider. After that just about any pre-80 D44 should work just fine, 77 and older if you want to convert to 5 x 5.5 bolt pattern.
If you want a matched set with the offset and flat top knuckles, 77 and older waggy is the best route, they came with flat top knuckle.

Alright, I'm a two week old jeeper... By waggy, do y'all mean wagoneer? I found a scrap yard about 2 hours away from me that has front and rear off of a 73 for $450. Seems like a pretty good deal. How long do y'all think D44's will last with 37's?
