Trying to figure out the numbers on some Powr Loks. It’s my new to me ‘62 CJ5 so I’ve been changing all the fluids and swapping brakes so I pulled the covers off the diffs.
    Front: 1 26 2 A
    22508 3X
    Rear: 10 10 1A
    21920X

For the rear I’ve seen the 21920x numbers with my research, Dana 44 19 Spline. Does the 10 10 1A give the build date somehow?

For the front I know it’s a Dana 25 with 5.38’s but the numbers don’t match with anything I’ve seen online.

There in the Jeep and I’m not taking them out so it’s more my curiosity of wanting to know details about the Jeep. Looking at the fluid that came out and the amount of sludge on the bottom of the axle they’ve been in there a while. With the history of the Jeep I’m assuming from the beginning.

Very nice suprise to find Power Loks front and rear! The numbers are date codes that would likely be original for a '62. The "A" is a reference to the shift when produced. Front is Jan. 26, 1962, and rear is Oct. 10, 1961, with A being first shift.
The numbers ending in"X" are the part numbers. I have seen several of the 21920x units, and in fact have one. The front number is new to me, and being added to my list. I have never seen a Power Lok with the "3X" that you posted. All I have seen are five digits, ending in X.

Thanks Donny. I couldn’t find anything online that matches the front number or explains what the 3X is for.

Like Donny, I've added your front number 22508 to my list; haven't run across that number myself.
The rear 21920 is pretty common.

Realize that axle assemblies were generally built a few months (approximately 4) before the jeep was assembled.

Here's a link to a similar original early vintage Dana 25 Powr Lok unit.
