I lost my fuel and temp gauge a while back. Now in looking up at the back side of the dash panel with a mirror, I notice a green wire coming off the fuel gauge side that is about 8" long and not going to anything and I noticed a purple wire coming from the firewall that is hanging loose as well. Both have washer type connectors.

In looking at my wiring diagram it shows wires going to my oil gauge. All that is going to my oil gauge is the oil line that runs to the sensor and the gauge works.

Any ideas? The wiring diagram shows a red wire going from the oil gauge to the fuel gauge. I suspect this my wiring has been messed with by the PO but not sure enough to know.

I think I may be having more trouble explaining this than figuring out the wiring diagram.

The factory oil pressure gauge is electric. The oil tube going to the oil gauge is for the mechanism in the oil guage called the bourdon tube (it's a mechanical gauge).

The loose wires go to the original oil pressure gauge. Tape the ends and tie/tape them to something out of the way under the dash.

    okay.

By the way, after reading this post,

    http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72101&highlight=fuel+temp

I think this maybe my problem. I've been rolling before and looked down and saw both gauges maxed out. If John is correct, I suspect I may have either lost a good ground or burned my something up.

I'm going to pull this thing out and start cleaning first chance I get.

    Thanks fellas.
