I have had a leak in pretty much every gasketed windshield I owned. Some really leaky (my 6), some just a bit, like my 63 International truck I sold. Since I now have a small rock chip, I have been thinking about having a windshield cut to fit and being glued in place on my CJ6. Have any of you guys tried this and if so how did you like it?

The windshield is center in the frame with the gasket. When you glue in, the windshield will stick out past the metal frame. If there is a gap at the top and mastic is not applied correct, it will hold water there, which may become a problem. If you do this and the frame is painted, make sure you use the correct primers and mastic.

I think this would work just fine. Do you have a glass shop that will custom cut glass? This could be the fix for the aftermarket frames that have a too small opening for original size glass. Save the old gasket, cut it apart and use the inner part of the gasket to trim out the inside of the frame. You know we are going to need pictures.
