I'm looking for the dash light sockets for the alt. and oil idiot light in the speedo. The socket should have 2 wires (the one to the alt/oil sensor is ground) Anyone know where to get some. I need 2. I also need a coil mount for the V-6. My coil is zip tied to the heater hose.

I believe I have some of those, will have to go thru my wiring stuff. If so you can have em for shipping. I will check and get back to you.

What does the coil mount look like? I have HEI on my 231. I have 2 coil mounts, one from a 258 and one from a Ford truck, wanna say they are the same. Again, I will have to go thru my parts crate and find them.

The coil mount as far as I can tell has both bolt holes on the same side.

I only have the bolt holes left of mine so I really don't know, but I can only find one bolt to mount it to the engine.

The ones I have are different, the mounting legs go opposite of each other. I will pull it out and get a pic.

    70cj5,
Here's a pic. Don't know if the coil mount is right. The wires are from a mid 80's CJ, will work perfectly for intended use, but are different looking that the factory ones on my 67. So if you are looking for what works, here ya go, if looking for 100% correct restoration, maybe not. Let me know.

The lights are what I'm looking for. I have a spare coil mount like that but was hoping to find on that will bolt proper. Not looking for a restoration just would like to ensure the coil don't get loose and I'm afraid the vibrations would break the tab off if only one side is bolted over time. I don't see a place to bolt the other side of that mount on the motor. I'm not looking restoration just very reliable.

I didn't think the mount would be right. I looked through the FSM trying to find a pic but couldn't.
If you want to PM me your address I will get the sockets to you. Will include as much wire as I can, which should be plenty since I have the entire harness. How does 3.85 to cover priority shipping sound? If you like I can check what it would be for parcel post, but you would be looking at 4-6 weeks vice 3-5 days. Let me know.

I dont know of a source for the coil clamp, but what about going to an electrical supply place and getting a stirrup clamp? The ones with the rubber "gasket" on the inside would probably work fairly well untill you find better one.

I refer to those as Umpco or Adel clamps, as those are some of the companies that make them. I just mentioned those in a wire harness thread here. I got a bunch off ebay for cheap. They come in regular steel (=rust) stainess, or aluminum. Some also have an extra little "ramp" of rubber where the 2 ends come together to make the cricle more or less more circular. Mine are aluminum and include the ramp, guess they are considered "aircraft grade". 70CJ5, I already mailed off your box dangit, cause if you give me the diameter of your coil I could have thrown one of those in, if I had a match.

Here is a pic of the oil and amp light fixtures from a later CJ (198?). The speedo light fixture is similar but has only one wire and is made of metal on most applications I have seen, as it grounds thru the case.

Yours may be missing or just missing the bulb or burned out. Take a gander under the dash at the backside of the speedo housing and see if you have any holes where the lights plug in, there are 2 or 3 as i recall. If they are there you can just snap them out and see if the bulb is burnt or missing. Guess a bad ground where the speedo bolts to the firewall could also be a culprit.

Alright, just looked and there appears to be 3 bulbs there.
    1) how do you remove the sockets?
    2) would it be easier to pull the speedo out to get at them? they look rusted in.

    Ok-
Found the problem. Bulbs were fine, socket fine...just not getting power. I am using a jumper now until I can trace the problem correctly. Wiring is awful on this jeep...

Should be 2 lights for the speedo light like you found, plus one for the headlights on bright indicator.

Thanks Glen. I look at the FSM and found the diagram. I jumped them both for now. I still can't believe the wiring mess in the jeep though

Dennis, if needed I may have some extra of those sockets. Cost=shipping.
