Partially true. Yes they both were contracted to build vehicles for the military, and they are similar in build, but not exactly the same. I know a guy with both a WW2 Willy's and WW2 GPW and we have noticed several differences related to the tubes, supports, and a few other areas. 85% of the vehicles look identical, but there are subtle differences if you look hard enough. Previously I had no idea, they looked exactly the same to me until someone pointed out all the differences and I was able to see both models side-by-side.

Back in the '70s I had a MB. I really didn't care much as long as it wasn't a Ford:twisted: but during the rebuild I found several F scripted bolts and such, they all worked as designed. The first things I learned about was the tool box lids, some of the bodies had a stamp in the back.. GPW front bumpers and front crossmembers are not the same as a MB. During and after the war many of these were rebuilt and the parts were thrown in a bin and then reassembled so parts weren't kept with the vehicles.
