Thanks all. I worked on the tub and frame for a month or two before I started tearing down the MB. It was nice having the old Jeep right next to the new one to refer to and get measurements. I'm a list kind of guy, so I tried to work specifically on the "get it running" items, but I still strayed once in awhile. I set a deadline for driving it to a local off road show this weekend, thinking then I'd have about a month to wrap up the rest.

The rear seat is a PRP, 42" wide. It's a cheapy version of what I really wanted (Mastercraft). It can take a five point harness and I wanted the headrest support for the kids.

SRD in Vista. They are a local fab shop/race team. Not necessarily 4x4, more desert race.

Beer garden of micro brew, tacos, etc. Just something relaxing to do close to home, but it's gonna be hot today.

Winner winner, chicken dinner. Best Jeep trophy from today's show. People love the old school rides I guess.
I also won some sweet HID lights in the raffle, so I'll have to find somewhere to mount them.

The strap on the front is because I ran out of gas about a block from home. My wife had to rescue me and tow me home. I thought I had about 4 gallons in it, so maybe the pick up isn't reaching the bottom of the tank. The fuel gauge isn't wired yet.

    Roughly:
    Oil pan = 22"
    Bellhousing = 20.5"
tranfer case skid plate front = 18.5"
    transfercase rear skid plate= 18"
on 34" LTB Super Swampers, full air.

The skid plate is just a trimmed down stock plate bolted to the cross member which is 1"x2" thick wall rectangular tube. Distance to the actual transfer case at the lowest point is 19".
Remember I raised the drive train up 2" from stock position. I (unintentionally ) added a bit more slant to the drivetrain so I lost a bit there. I think the slant I have now is probably more correct than it was though, the carb is dead flat.

I took the Jeep out on it's first off road trip this weekend. We went to Truckhaven for the Operation Desert Fun event. Here we are playing around on the obstacle course. Jeep ran good. I still have a lot of odds and ends to complete. Fuel sender isn't working, I don't have my ARB front locker wired up yet. Gotta mount the aoogah horn.:D

The rear diff banged into the gas tank skid a couple of times. The skid really extends farther towards the front of the Jeep than it needs to. I made it longer because it was the convenient location; bolting it to a cross member. I think I can trim it down or bowl the few inches in front of the tank to make some more clearance for the diff, if that makes any sense.

I trimmed the windshield down and it looks more porportional with the cage and gives a better field of vision. We forgot to take our camera, so I failed in the requisite action photos.

What an awesome rig. I had 5's and 7's for a long time, but with a wonderful wife and 3 cool youngsters, I am now building a CJ6.

Yeah, I'm super happy with all the room we have. More leg room for the front seats, lots of room to grow for the back seat and a ton of storage possibilities all aound the seats and side walls. I minimized the depth for the coolers in back and I think that helped a lot. Where the rear wheel well used to be right behind the front seats I may install some tall, narrow ammo cans.

    Hey mpc,

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead but for some reason I can't send you a PM on the forums. I'm a new member here (Been creeping on here on and off for a few years), your build has really inspired me and I want to start working on my CJ3B I have at home. I'd like to get your e-mail or phone number or something to send you a message with some questions if that would be ok. Hope to hear from you soon.
