I bought this from a buddy, who took possession after his dad died. They had hunted out of it for many years and part of the bargain was that I rebuild it. His dad had worked on it every year before hunting season, but he preferred plywood to welding. Its in pretty ruff shape. I have good support, and tools, but I’ve never worked on a jeep before. If you see anything I could do better Please comment!

My intentions -, near frame up restoration, to use as a daily driver. Will also have to pull my (light - 13 foot) Boler trailer about 1000 miles once a year to our hunting grounds. Highway speeds – 55mph , Light off road use, on arrival.
I'm expecting this to take about 1+1/2 years?

This is the day we rolled it into the garage

Double that time to be comfortable.

Nice venting windshield. Those are difficult to come by in the US.

You wanna pull a 13 foot trailer?
What engine does this Jeep have? 4 cylinder or :v6:?

You're probably gonna want to swap a Buick V6, Chevy 4.3, or another larger engine to pull the trailer.

It has the original f-head. I pulled it a few weeks ago and sent it to my nephew. He's a journeyman mechanic and begged me to let him rebuild it. I'm having it bored out .030 and hoping for a few more horse power.I'd like to keep it mostly original, if I can. Do you think it will be underpowered?
I like the windshield too, but its soooo badly rotted, I don’t have the skill to save it. The previous owner held it together with silicone, and multiple layers of paint.

I can't speak on the power to tow it honestly. We'll have to wait for forum members who have 4-134s to comment.

On the venting windshield, they can be very hard to find.
I wouldn't be in a hurry to junk it. Take your time to get a good look at it if you haven't already.
If the frame looks toast, I'd remove the interior parts and sell them off.

It's pretty far gone, and this will sound terrible but I don't really like it.....It takes about 2" of visibility away from the windshield all the way around. As it's a split windshield you also loose a strip down the center. I think I'll take some really detailed pic's and post it for someone who will have a greater appreciation than I will. I just need to secure a new/used one before I take the plunge.

I'd suggest if they're in good shape using the inner frame , arms & latches with a replacement regular frame- they'll fit just fine. In fact the stock non-vented frames actually have the mounting holes for the venting w/s latches.

No need to imply that you're terrible for not liking it. That's one of the reasons very few people use them, they are really hard to see out of. They don't really bother me, but I'm also kinda short.

You could always post a wanted ad for a windshield in the wanted section of the forum.

And if you do part with it, you could pm me, maybe we can work out a deal. ;)

Work continues, My Brother Is helping me move the wheel wells back, and put in steel floors. I just didn't like the plywood.

Those of you (7 actually) who have contacted me about the windshield, please be patient. I've found a new one, and will post this one on ebay for with links here as soon as the new one arrives.

Lot of work. I have same windshield, never opened it but I see through it...
F 134 : I have one, rebuilt. Good but slow, not for a big trailer IMO.

    Thanks!
My Boler dry is 950lbs. I'm hoping with the brake upgrades (already found 11"'s for the front) and adding breaks to the trailer, it should pull/stop it?

    Boler....

Pulled the Transmition last week, planning on opening it and replacing seals/gaskets/mounts/fluid/anyting to badly worn.

Also have the floors mostly finished.

Going a little slower than I had hoped, but I don't want to get it back together and wish I'd done something different!

11inch drums on all corners, and drilled and you might be good.

Not necessarily. Some forum members have had their 11inch drums drilled, similar to the way disk rotors are drilled for better venting. It might be nice to have with a trailer to pull. I can't speak from experience, I have 11inch front and original 9inch rears.

Found a few new surprises, this is the second paint can lid that's been bondo'd in.

The brake light had an interesting repair...

And finally I found a piece of scrap metal wood screwed over the back corner and hidden with bondo. Looks like it must have been a New Zealander?
