...in a '53 CJ3-B? I know that they are about 3" long, but anyone have the diameter? Look to be about 1/2" but I need a second opinion. TIA :)

Actually they are probably more like 5/16". Bought 7/16" and thought, gee those look sorta big. Let you know tomorrow when I get the right size. Maybe your bolts are larger, Windyhill?

Doug from the CJ3B board and This Old Jeep.com lists them as:
    "According to the parts list:

    Front:
    5/16"-24 x 2 3/4" (12 leaf spring)
    5/16"-24 x 2" (7 leaf spring)

    Rear:
    5/16"-24 x 2 3/8" (9 leaf spring)"

Yep, they are 5/16" at least in my case. I got some cap screws today and THEN I started dismantling the springs. (I doi everything backwards:?) The rears are in OK shape, but don't know if I can or want to save the front pair. One has a small rust through in one of the leaves. I wonder if you can find single leaves? Anyone have a source?

There's a local spring place that I'm going to give a call on Friday and ask them about replacement leaves and re-arching them while I'm at it.

Sorry, I was thinking spring eye bolts Just replaced mine  Ya the spring center bolts are indeed 5/16 sorry. Oh and you want a soft bolt, not a grade 8.

That's ok, but why a soft bolt? I found socket cap screws that should work, but they're Grade 8's.

Probably so they can flex with the springs better.
