    Hi Guys,

I wasn't quite sure how to title this, so hopefully I was close. I have a 71 CJ5 that used to have a rear under mounted fuel tank, which the previous owner removed. There is now a keg in the back used for a fuel tank, but I am not a huge fan. I would like to replace that tank with the older style under the driver's seat tank, which I have purchased from kaiserwillys.com. The body has a cover on the fuel filler hole that I need to remove. I am just curious if anyone has any ideas on the best way to remove it without damaging the rest of the body. I don't see any plug welds I can drill out. I guess one option would be to grind it off, but that seems kinda slow. Below are pictures of inside and out. Thanks for any help!

Looks like some kind of bed liner or something on the inside. If you remove that, you may find some spot welds. Try getting a chisel under the edge and maybe "peel" it off. Thin chisel and little hammer ;)

I would go back to the stock rear tank setup first. Then pick away at the front tank setup. IMO dual tanks is the only way to go if you go very far.
