I seem to remember a mod that extended the vent and turned it down the carb throat. Does it work and will it need soldering.

My 2 G never needed it.. I've stood my Jeep nearly vertical and never seemed to have an issue. It's an interesting thought though. Maybe a float mod as well?

It’s getting a rebuild so I’ll be setting it anew. I’ve always wondered if the float was too high. It died when I was in a side lean or on a steep climb. On the climb it would die if I popped a wheely.

Another interesting thing is the original Jeep 2G carbs had a strange shaped float in them. Back in the 70s my Dad told me the Jeep ones were designed to work better at extreme angles. I tend to believe him, there isn't much other reason for Jeep to have their own float.

Unfortunately, you can't get the Jeep specific ones anymore.

Jeep float on the left. Generic 2G replacement float on the right:

That said, I have a regular float in my '68 and it seems to run well at extreme angles with no mods.
