The man in brown dumped off my Pertronix Ignitor ignition conversion kit yesterday. It is in and works like hot damn!!! My questions are for the people who also did the conversion. Did you splurge on platinum spark plugs? (I did a plug change about 50 miles ago and really don’t see the need for another new set) Did the platinum plugs make any noticeable difference? Also, did you happen to pick up a Flame-Thrower 40,000 volt hi-po coil - what do you think of it?

Same here. Regular plugs gapped a little larger. Can't remember exactly how much, but IIRC it was specified in the instructions...maybe .040??? I've had mine for about 3 years now and love it.

I have the Pertronix and did nothing else. Runs great. I love not having points to play with.

    Stock plugs.
Don't waste the money on "special" plugs.

I've had a Pertronix Ignitor in my '66 VW Beetle for almost SEVEN years now.
    NO problems.
    Set it and forget it.
What an incredible and incredibly simple unit.
    Two thumbs up!

I put a Pertronix Ignitor ignition conversion kit in my F134 (prestolite Dist.) and faught it for two hours. I couldn't advance it enough so I rotated the plug wires around one position in the distributer cap and retarded the **** out of it and it seems to run ok now. I will maybe try something else tomorrow.

I'm glad to hear so many positive comments about this, 'cause I'm a planning to get one.

1165 IIRC. If you use the search function here, you'll find it.

Agreed. I've never been able to tell a lick of difference between platinum, irridium and plain ole copper core spark plugs.
I've been wanting to try some of those E-3 plugs but they're a bit pricey for spark plugs.

I ended up timing mine from either #3 or #4 cylinder. The points were timed from #1. Runs like a Raped Ape!
