Another tire thread!? National Commando Whitewalls

Guys, my new to me '67 CJ5 came home wearing these fantastic old whitewall tires. They're "National Commando" 4-ply polyester tires, M/S L78-15"s. We have several old collector cars, and it seems vintage tires of any style are readily available for them- but nothing like these! The "Nationaltire.com" link is dead, and probably not available anymore anyways. I don't see anything remotely close to these for sale anywhere. I don't want to run NDT's or a military type tire. I'm in love with the look of these, but they are obviously over.. Anybody have suggestions?

Thanks for that, Dellisol. I'm familiar with them ans have bought lots of Redlines and such from them for our other old cars, but they don't have anything like this that I could find. Lots of whitewalls that would look good, but nothing with a lug and a whitewall.

I've tried some of the many farm and co-op stores around here, but no luck yet. Couple of the older guys remember 'em but haven't seem 'em in awhile.

 

I have the original 16" wheels on mine and wanted to fine a radial whitewall that had a more vintage look. I searched everywhere and had no luck. I ended up going with new National Commando radial blackwalls. I probably could have found a street radial with whitewalls but I wanted something that looked more "Jeep" like. I had no luck finding whitewalls but yours are 15s so you may have better luck.

 

i had ones just like that on my 67 when i bought it. I think they were called getty super-go

 

Kelly had wintermark white walls...last year. They are off the website now but a locally owned tire store said he might be able to find them. (not a Tire Rack, Discount or Belle tire type of store) the last size they sold was 235/75 15. Coker told me the only had steet tread with white walls. My white walls are getting old on my Commando hope my guy can find them for me, good luck. I found no other snow tire white walls if you find a different brand please let us know.

Guys, thanks for all the input- those Wintermark's are exactly what I'd like to have. They look like what I've seen on some of the early Broncos.

Here, they're called "Republic Wintermark" -the same number, but also showing not available. Time to get on the horn! Lol..
